Storyboarding short videos
Notes kept on gitea.thpeetz.de about using Raphael AI, a free AI image generator that runs in the browser.
Before filming a 30-second clip, I sketch each shot. Raphael AI turns shot descriptions into rough frames:
Tips
- Lay the frames out in order to check pacing before recording anything.
- Use the frames as a shot list on set.
- Discard frames once the real footage exists; they are planning material only.
- One prompt per shot: framing, subject, action (
close-up, hands typing, night). - Keep the same character description across prompts to reduce drift.
Why Raphael AI
- Free to use, with no install: open https://raphael.app and type a prompt.
- Fast iterations make it practical to try several compositions.
- Works for drafts, mock-ups and reference images; finish important assets with human review.
Responsible use
Check generated images for errors before publishing, do not imitate real people without consent, and label AI-generated images where your audience expects it.
